We construct a family of polarizations of the moduli space of flat \(\text{SU} (n)\)-connections on a closed 2-manifold of genus \(g(\geq 2)\). These are generalizations of various polarizations known until now. That is, our family of polarizations includes the real polarizations in the case of \(n=2\), studied by \textit{L. C. Jeffrey} and \textit{J. Weitsman} [Commun. Math. Phys. 150, No. 3, 593-630 (1992; Zbl 0787.53068)], as well as the Kähler polarizations which are well known through the papers of \textit{M. F. Atiyah} and \textit{R. Bott} [Philos. Trans. R. Soc. Lond., A 308, 523-615 (1983; Zbl 0509.14014)] and \textit{E. Witten} [Commun. Math. Phys. 121, No. 3, 351-399 (1989; Zbl 0667.57005)]. Our construction is based on an original formulation of degeneration of Riemann surfaces. The relations between our polarizations and the complex structures of the moduli spaces of parabolic bundles are also studied.
