The aim of this paper is to show that the numerical computations on singular meromorphic foliations on \(\mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^2\) and the bounds on the degrees of their algebraic leaves may be extended to large classes of meromorphic singular foliations on compact complex surfaces. More precisely, here we will extend a large part of \textit{D. Cerveau} and \textit{A. Lins Neto} [Ann. Inst. Fourier 41, No. 4, 883-904 (1992; Zbl 0757.34006)] to a class of projective surfaces \(X\) embedded in \(\mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^r\). For the main results (see Corollary 2.6 and Theorem 3.1) we will assume that in this fixed embedding \(X\) is projectively normal and every curve on \(X\) is the intersection with \(X\) of a hypersurface of \(\mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^r\). We will try to copy and use as much as possible the results of D. Cerveau and A. Lins Neto [loc. cit.].
