A real polynomial is said to be (Hurwitz or asymptotically) stable if all its zeros lie in the open left half of the complex plane. The authors show that the Hadamard coefficientwise product of two stable polynomials is again stable, improving upon some known results. Via the associated Hurwitz matrices of real polynomials the authors find a further example of a class of totally nonnegative matrices (i.e. every minor is nonnegative) which is closed under Hadamard multiplication of matrices.
