Restricted Morgan's problem (Q1924421)

The paper is devoted to the restricted Morgan problem for a right invertible linear system, namely to find a static state feedback such that the closed loop system has a diagonal transfer function. The solution of this problem is known when \(m\), number of inputs, equals \(p\), number of outputs. Here the case \(m-p= p-r^*\) is considered, where \(r^*\) is the column rank at infinity of the proper part of \(G(s)\) transfer function matrix of the system. A list of new structural invariants, the right independent order is introduced for the derivatives of the output components, and it is shown that they are invariant under state feedback, both static and dynamic. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solution of the restricted Morgan problem are given in terms of the solution of a linear algebraic equation.
