The authors exhibit two characterizations of the finite quadric Veronesean \({\mathcal V}_n^{2^n}\) of \(\mathrm{PG}(n,q)\), \(n\geq\,1\). First characterization: Assume \(n\geq\,2\); the quadric Veronesean \({\mathcal V}_n^{2^n}\) is characterized as point set \(\mathcal K\) with \(\#{\mathcal K}=(q^{n+1}-1)/(q-1)\) spanning \(\mathrm{PG}(n(n+3)/2,q)\) such that the following three conditions are satisfied. (P) If a plane intersects \(\mathcal K\) in more than three points, then it contains exactly \(q+1\) points of \(\mathcal K\). Furthermore, any two points \(p_1\), \(p_2\) of \(\mathcal K\) are contained in a plane carrying \(q+1\) points of \(\mathcal K\). (S) If a \(3\)-space \(\Pi_3\) intersects \(\mathcal K\) in more than \(4\) points, then there are four points of \(\mathcal K\) contained in a plane of \(\Pi_3\). (V) If a \(5\)-space \(\Pi_5\) intersects \(\mathcal K\) in more than \(2q+2\) points, then it intersects \(\mathcal K\) in exactly \(q^2+q+1\) points. Second characterization: Assume \(q\geq\,5\) and \(n>2\); the quadric Veronesean \({\mathcal V}_n^{2^n}\) is characterized as point set \(\mathcal K\) with \(\#{\mathcal K}=(q^{n+1}-1)/(q-1)\) spanning \(\mathrm{PG}(n(n+3)/2,q)\) such that the following three conditions are satisfied. (P') If \(\pi\) is a plane, then the intersection \(\pi\cap{\mathcal K}\) contains at most \(q+1\) points. (S') If a \(3\)-space \(\Pi_3\) intersects \(\mathcal K\) in more than \(4\) points, then \(\#(\Pi_3\cap{\mathcal K})\geq\,q+1\) and \(\Pi_3\cap{\mathcal K}\) is not a \((q+1)\)-arc. (V') If a \(5\)-space \(\Pi_5\) intersects \(\mathcal K\) in more than \(2q+2\) points, then it intersects \(\mathcal K\) in exactly \(q^2+q+1\) points. Furthermore, any two points \(p_1\), \(p_2\) of \(\mathcal K\) are contained in a \(5\)-space carrying \(q^2+q+1\) points of \(\mathcal K\).
