Fixed points of \(IA\)-endomorphisms of a free metabelian Lie algebra (Q1930301)

From the text: Let \(L\) be a free metabelian Lie algebra of finite rank at least 2. The authors show the existence of non-trivial fixed points of an \(IA\)-endomorphism of \(L\) and give an algorithm detecting them. In particular, they prove that the fixed point subalgebra \(\mathrm{Fix}\, \varphi \) of an \(IA\)-endomorphism \(\varphi \) of \(L\) is not finitely generated. Results for free Lie algebras were given by \textit{R. M. Bryant} [J. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 43, No. 2, 215--224 (1991; Zbl 0685.20004)] and \textit{V. Drensky} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 120, No. 4, 1021--1028 (1994; Zbl 0801.17020)]. The results were extended by \textit{R. M. Bryant} and \textit{A. I. Papistas} [Glasg. Math. J. 42, No. 2, 167--181 (2000; Zbl 0971.17002)]. \textit{V. Shpilrain} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 123, No. 1, 75--83 (1998; Zbl 0894.20027)] gave a matrix characterization of the fixed points of an \(IA\)-endomorphism of a free metabelian group. In his proof the author uses the method developed in [Zbl 0971.17002].
