A multiplier \(M\) is an operator in a Hilbert space \(H\) of the form \(Mf=\sum_n m_n \langle f,\psi_n\rangle \phi_n\), where \((\psi_n)\) and \((\phi_n)\) are sequences in \(H\) and its symbol \((m_n)\) is a scalar sequence. If \((\psi_n)\) and \((\phi_n)\) are Bessel sequences and the symbol is bounded then the multiplier is unconditionally convergent. The authors ask if this is canonical, i.e., given an unconditionally convergent multiplier, can it be brought in that form by shifting weights between the sequences. Another fact is that the frame condition of the Hilbert sequences is linked to the multiplier being invertible. Also, here, the authors ask whether this is canonical, i.e., given an unconditionally convergent and invertible multiplier, can shifting weights make the Hilbert sequences satisfy the frame condition? This paper gives some partial answers to this question in that several classes are identified in which it is true, but whether it is true in general is still an open problem.
