    The authors analyze the microlocal properties of the linearized forward scattering operator \(F\) and the normal operator \(F^{*}F\) appearing as a result of a common midpoint acquisition geometry in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging. The main goal of this paper is to understand the distribution class of the kernel of \(F^{*}F\), which will explain artifacts appearing when \(F^{*}\) is applied to the scattered data. In fact, the authors show that \(F^{*}F\) can be decomposed as a sum of four operators, each belonging to a class of distributions associated to two cleanly intersecting Lagrangians.
