In this paper, the authors study the following eigenvalue problem: \[ -y''+q(x)y+\int_0^x M(x-t)y(t)\,dt=\lambda y, \qquad x\in (0,d)\cup (d, \pi), \] with the initial conditions \[ y(0)=0, \qquad y'(0)=1, \] and the jump condition \[ y(d+0)=\alpha y(d-0), \qquad y'(d+0)=\alpha^{-1}y'(d-0), \] where \(d\in (0, \pi)\)\,, \(q(x)\) is a function in \(L^2(0,\pi)\)\,, \(\lambda\in \mathbb R\), \(\alpha>0\) with \(\alpha\not=1\), and the functions \[ x\mapsto (\pi-x)M(x) \qquad \text{and} \quad x\mapsto \int_0^xM(t)\,dt \] belong to \(L^2(0,\pi)\)\,. The main result of the paper is a representation theorem for the solutions of the problem. Moreover, the authors prove some asymptotic estimates for the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions of the equation, when both the initial and the jump conditions are satisfied.
