The authors use \textit{A. J. Krener}'s high order perturbations [SIAM J. Control Optimization 15, 256--293 (1977; Zbl 0354.49008)] following the notions introduced by \textit{Aquilar} and \textit{Lewis} [in: Proceedings of the 18th Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA (2008)]. Krener's high order maximum principle is stated in the framework of presympletic geometry. so then the presympletic constraint algorithm in the sense of \textit{M. J. Gotay} et al., [J. Math. Phys. 19, 2388--2399 (1978; Zbl 0418.58010)] is used. The authors establish the connection between the presympletic constraint algorithm and the candidates to be optimal curves obtained from the necessary conditions in Krener's high order maximum principle. They obtain weaker geometric necessary conditions for optimality of abnormal solutions than the ones by Krener [Zbl 0354.49008] and the ones in the weak high order maximum principle. These new necessary conditions are more useful, from computational point of view, for finding curves candidate to be optimal. The presented theory is valid for control--affine systems. An example of some mechanical control system to be optimized is analyzed.
