The paper aims to begin a classification of a certain type of Frobenius manifolds; the so-called polynomial modular Frobenius manifolds. Modular means that they lie at the fixed points of a specific symmetry on the space of Frobenius manifolds called inversion symmetry, whereas polynomial refers to the fact that the corresponding free energy depends polynomially on all but one of the variables. The paper starts with a quick but clear introduction to these concepts, followed by a detailed analysis of the conditions for a function to be the free energy of a polynomial modular Frobenius manifold. In dimensions 3 and 4 this analysis leads to a complete classification of polynomial modular Frobenius manifolds, whereas in dimension 5 it gives some partial results. The later parts of the text study the relation of the above to other areas in this field. That is, the relation with almost dual Frobenius manifolds is discussed, as well as a relation with singularity theory. Finally, modular dynamical systems are defined to further formalize the behaviour of polynomial modular Frobenius manifolds. This section of the text is less self-contained, referring more to other papers for definitions and proofs. Throughout the paper some avenues of further research are suggested, specifically to loosen the condition of polynomiality and to better understand the relation to almost duality of Frobenius manifolds.
