When the Hilbert cube \(Q\) is represented as \([0,1]^{\omega}\), it can be endowed with a natural probabilistic measure \(\mu\) induced by the one-dimensional Lebesgue measure \(\lambda\) of the unit interval; that is, \(\mu\) is the (infinite) product measure of countably many copies of \(\lambda\). The main result of the paper strengthens a classical theorem by \textit{M. K. Fort jun.} [Pac. J. Math. 12, 879--884 (1962; Zbl 0112.38004)] as follows: for any two countable dense subsets \(A\) and \(B\) of \(Q\), the identity map on \(Q\) can be uniformly approximated by homeomorphisms of \(Q\) which send \(A\) onto \(B\) and preserve the measure \(\mu\).
