The authors state and analyze the unconditionally stable interior penalty method in order to solve fourth order elliptic problems supplied with Dirichlet boundary conditions on 2D polygonal domains. They extend their previously formulated medius analysis in order to obtain quasi-optimal order of convergence in a sequence of nested Sobolev spaces. Thus, they avoid additional regularity requirements on the exact solution imposed by standard techniques based on Galerkin orthogonality and Cea's lemma. Some numerical experiments are carried out in order to underline the theoretical results.
