The author investigates the primal-dual operation on sets by introducing the map \(T\) defined as \[ ATB=\bigcap_{x^{\ast }\in B} \overline{co}\left( A+\left\{ x^{\ast }\right\} ^{-}\right) ,\quad A\subset X,\; \emptyset \neq B\subset X^{\ast }, \] where \(X\) denotes a Hausdorff locally convex space with topological dual \(X^{\ast }\). He gives some general properties of the operator \(T\) with analytical and geometrical interpretations. These results are applied to the closed convex relaxed problem which was studied, for instance, in [\textit{J.-B. Hiriart-Urruty, M. A. López} and \textit{M. Volle}, Rev. Mat. Iberoam 27, No. 2, 449--474 (2011; Zbl 1229.90265)] or [\textit{M. A. López} and \textit{M. Volle}, J. Convex Anal. 17, No. 3--4, 1057--1075 (2010; Zbl 1219.90184)]. Applications are provided concerning a class of relaxed minimization problems in the frame of the so-called \(B\)-regularization theory. Special attention is paid to the case when the initial problem admits optimal solutions under compactness assumptions.
