The authors prove pointwise estimates for a homogenization problem associated to second-order elliptic systems. They consider the elliptic system \(\mathrm{div}(A(x)Du_{\varepsilon }(x))=0\) posed in a smooth, bounded and uniformly convex domain \(D\) of \(\mathbb{R}^{d}\), \(d\geq 2\), with the Dirichlet boundary condition \(u_{\varepsilon }(x)=g(x/\varepsilon )\) on the boundary \(\Gamma \) of \(D\). The matrix \(A\) is an \(\mathbb{R}^{N^{2}\times d^{2}}\)-valued function defined on \(\mathbb{R}^{d}\) which satisfies the usual ellipticity conditions. The function \(g\) is a \(C^{1}\)-function which is 1-periodic. It is known that \(u_{\varepsilon }\) converges when \(\varepsilon \) goes to 0 to the solution \(u_{0}\) of the problem \(\mathrm{div}(A(x)Du_{0}(x))=0 \), \(u_{0}(x)=\overline{g}\) on \(\Gamma \), with \(\overline{g}=\int_{\mathbb{T} ^{d}}g(x)dx\). The main result of the paper proves that for every \(\kappa >1\) there exists a constant \(C_{\kappa }\), which depends on the smallest principal curvature of \(\Gamma \) and on other ingredients, such that \( \left| u_{\varepsilon }(x)-u_{0}(x)\right| \leq C_{\kappa }\frac{ \varepsilon ^{(d-1)/2}}{d(x)^{\kappa }}\) on \(D\). For the proof, the authors use a covering of \(\Gamma \) and properties of Poisson's kernel.
