Part of the proofs of the results of this paper use the graphical or symbolic method [\textit{A. Abdesselam}, J. Knot. Theory Ramifications 21, No. 3, Article ID 1250022 (62 pp.) (2012; Zbl 1287.57026)], [\textit{A. Abdesselam} and \textit{J. Chipalkatti}, Adv. Math. 208, No. 2, 491--520 (2007; Zbl 1131.05005)] and full details of them are in their arXiv preprint: [\textit{A. Abdesselam} and \textit{J. Chipalkatti}, Quadratic involutions of binary forms, \url{arXiv:1008.3117}]. From the abstract of the arXiv preprint:`` There is a classical geometric construction which uses a binary quadratic form to define an involution on the space of binary \(d\)-ics. We give a complete characterisation of a general class of such involutions which are definable using compound transvectant formulae. We also study the associated varieties of forms which are preserved by such involutions. Along the way we prove a recoupling formula for transvectants, which is used to deduce a system of equations satisfied by the coefficients in these involutions.'' The results require too many notations to be stated here, but their description is clear and readable.
