    In this interesting paper, the author extends Favre-Jonsson study of superattracting 2-dimensional holomorphic germs to the slightly more general case of noninvertible germs. To state the main results, we need to recall a couple of definitions. A holomorphic germ \(f:(\mathbb{C}^2,0)\to(\mathbb{C}^2,0)\) is dominant if \(\det(df)\not\equiv 0\). The generalized critical set of \(f\) is \(\mathcal{C}^\infty(f)=\bigcup_{n\in\mathbb{N}}f^{-n}\mathcal{C}(f)\), where \(\mathcal{C}(f)\) is the usual critical set of \(f\). Finally, we say that \(f\) is rigid if \(\mathcal{C}^\infty(f)\) is (empty or) forward \(f\)-invariant and with at worst normal crossings at the origin. Then the first main result of this paper is that every dominant 2-dimensional holomorphic germ is birationally conjugate (via a modification, that is a sequence of point blow-ups) to a rigid germ. The second main result is the formal classification of rigid germs whose differential has exactly one non-zero eigenvalue. The main tool used in the proof is the valuation dynamics introduced by \textit{C. Favre} and \textit{M. Jonsson} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 40, No. 2, 309--349 (2007; Zbl 1135.37018)].
