A remark on strong factorizing resolutions (Q1940345)

The author gives a different proof of a result due to Eisenstein on strong factorization resolutions of varieties over a characteristic zero field [\textit{E. Eisenstein}, ``Generalization of the restriction theorem for multiplier ideals'', \url{arxiv:1001.2841}; to appear in Ann. Inst. Fourier (Grenoble)], which generalizes a previous theorem due to \textit{A. Bravo} and \textit{O. Villamayor} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 86, No. 2, 327--357 (2003; Zbl 1081.14019)]. Eisenstein's proof is based on the direct application of the result of Bravo and Villamayor. In this article the author bases its proof on the notion of \textit{excess of embedded codimension} and the strategy is to increase the excess of embedded codimension at each step of the resolution process.
