Let \(A\) be an \(n\)-dimensional abelian variety over \(\mathbb F_p\). Assume that \(A\) is a product of supersingular elliptic curves over the algebraic closure \(\overline{\mathbb F_p}\). Consider a principal polarisation over \(\mathbb F_p\) such that \(\sigma^2=-p\), where \(\sigma\) is denotes the Frobenius endomorphism of \(A\). For \(p>2\), the Tate module \(T_2(A)\) is a free \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}_2\)-module of rank \(2n\) with Weil pairing \(T_2(A)\times T_2(A)\rightarrow\varprojlim\mu_{2^m} (\overline{\mathbb F_p})\). The group ring over the absolute Galois group maps onto \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}_2[\sigma]\), and the Weil pairing gives rise to an involution of \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}_2[\sigma]\). Part of the classification problem of Tate modules amounts to a classification of self-dual skew-Hermitean modules over \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}_2[\sigma]\). The paper contains an exposition of Jacobowitz' classification of such modules and determines their number for given rank \(2n\).
