The paper actually focuses on the direct and inverse spectral theory for the associated weighted Sturm-Liouville equation. The weight is assumed to be a finite signed Borel measure on \(R\). Associated to the weighted Sturm-Liouville problem, the isospectral operator in the weighted Hilbert space \(L^2\) is introduced and basic properties, resolvent, exponential growth of solutions and relations to the associated left-definite operator are discussed. Continuity properties of the correspondence between weight measures and spectral measures are shown. Further, the results obtained for the isospectral problem are applied to the dispersionless Camassa-Holm equation.
