Positive, operator valued measures are essential in the diagonalization of normal tuples of commuting operators. The spectral theorem can be interpreted, with the known far reaching benefits, as an operator valued moment problem. In the realm of real algebraic geometry, the link between the geometric support (spectrum) and the algebraic structure (semiorder) is provided by a variety of Positivstellensätze. The author take a fresh look at possible Positivstellensätze in the context of operator valued functions. Even for finite rank, matrix valued polynomials, the results are new and relevant for potential applications to optimisation.
