Thermalization of rate-independent processes by entropic regularization (Q1942767)

The authors deal with the effective behavior of a rate-independent process in contact with a heat bath, where the intensity of the heat bath is fixed. Let an energetic potential and a one-homogeneous dissipation potential satisfy certain conditions. Under these conditions, the authors show that the càdlàg piecewise-constant interpolation converges in probability in the uniform norm to the deterministic non-linear gradient descent as the mesh size of a partition of the time interval \([0,\, T]\) goes to zero.
