For a natural number \(n\), a connected topological space \(X\) said to be a cut\(^{(n)}\)-space if for every subset \(D\) of \(X\) containing \(n\) elements, \(X - D\) is disconnected, and \(X - Y\) is connected for every proper subset \(Y\) of \(D\). For a cut\(^{(n)}\)-space \(X\), (a) for \(n \geq 2\), \(X\) is Hausdorff; (b) for \(n =2\), (i) if \(X\) is locally compact, then it is compact, (ii) if \(X\) is compact, then it is locally connected; (c) for \(n \geq 3\), \(X\) is not locally compact; (d) for \(n = 1\), if \(Y\) is a non-degenerate \(H\)-set of \(X\), then there exist distinct points \(a\) and \(b\) of \(Y\) such that for a separating set \(A_a\) of \(X - \{a\}\) and a separating set \(B_b\) of \(X - \{b\}\), \(Y\) is a subset of each of \((A_a)^*\) and \((B_b)^*\), where \((A_a)^*\) (\((B_b)^*\)) equals \(A_a\) adjoined with \(\{a\}\) (\(B_b\) adjoined with \(\{b\}\)). Subsets \(X_i\) of \(\mathbb R^2\) are found, for \(i = 1,2,3\), and subsets \(D_i\) of \(X_i\), with \(D_1, D_2, D_3\) containing 3,2,3 elements respectively, such that for \(i = 1,2,3,\) \(X_i - D_i\) is disconnected, but \(X_i - Y\), for \(i = 1,2,3\) and for every proper subset \(Y\) of \(D_i\), is connected. Sufficient conditions for singleton subsets of those finite non-degenerate subsets \(D\) of a connected space \(X\) such that \(X - Y\) is connected for every proper subset \(Y\) of \(D\), to be open/closed are obtained. Some results relating COTS and LOTS, and on closure of points of a COTS are also obtained.
