The authors prove error estimates for some elliptic problem posed in a thin domain with a highly oscillating boundary. They consider the 2D domain \[ R^{\varepsilon }=\{(x_{1},x_{2})\in \mathbb R^2\mid 0<x_{1}<1, 0<x_{2}<\varepsilon g(x_{1}/\varepsilon )\}, \] where \(g\in C^{1}(\mathbb R, \mathbb R)\) is a \(L\)-periodic and positive function. They consider the problem \(-\Delta w^{\varepsilon }+w^{\varepsilon }=f^{\varepsilon }\) posed in \(R^{\varepsilon }\) with the homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions \( \frac{\partial w^{\varepsilon }}{\partial N^{\varepsilon }}\) on the boundary of \(R^{\varepsilon }\). Here \(f^{\varepsilon }\in L^{2}(R^{\varepsilon })\) is uniformly bounded. The authors write the solution \(w^{\varepsilon }\) as \[ w^{\varepsilon }(x_{1},x_{2})=w_{0}(x_{1},\frac{x_{1}}{\varepsilon },\frac{ x_{2}}{\varepsilon })+\varepsilon w_{1}(x_{1},\frac{x_{1}}{\varepsilon }, \frac{x_{2}}{\varepsilon })+\varepsilon ^{2}w_{2}(x_{1},\frac{x_{1}}{ \varepsilon },\frac{x_{2}}{\varepsilon })+\cdots, \] and characterize the three terms of this second-order multiple-scale expansion as solutions of elliptic problems in the cell \(Y^{\ast }=\{(y,z)\in \mathbb R^2\mid 0<y<L\) , \(0<z<g(y_{1})\}\) with Neumann boundary conditions on the upper and lower boundaries of \(Y^\ast\). They then build the first-order and second-order correctors for this problem which involve \(w_0\) and the functions \(w_1\) and \(w_2\) which can be expressed in terms of the derivatives of \(w_0\). The two main results of the paper establish the estimates concerning these two correctors. The proofs are built using the properties of the function \( w_0\) and direct computations.
