In a series of papers, the inverse scattering problem is developed. This paper is devoted to the inverse scattering problem for the two-dimensional stationary wave equation with friction coefficient and reveals interesting relationships among previous research in this area. The basic aim of the author here is to determine the fraction coefficient from the knowledge of the associated scattering amplitude (i.e., the amplitude of the scattered wave) at a fixed low energy. It is shown that it is always possible to uniquely recover the friction force of the medium when the scattering amplitude is given at fixed low energies. The heart of the paper is the following result: If the friction coefficient as a complex-valued function has compact support and is bounded by a constant, then for any sufficiently low energy level, the coefficient can be uniquely reconstructed from the scattering amplitude at a fixed energy. Also, a reconstruction procedure to identify the friction coefficient in terms of the scattering amplitude is given. The method for the inverse scattering problem is distinguished by reducing to the inverse boundary value problem. Then, it turns out that from the link between the two problems, the friction coefficient can be determined by analysing the reduced problem.
