This article gives a necessary condition for being a Fuchsian group of quaternionic hyperbolic space. A Kleinian group is Fuchsian in real hyperbolic space if it leaves invariant a disk in Riemann sphere. A necessary condition for a Kleinian group to be a Fuchsian group was characterized by using trace condition of matrices in real or complex hyperbolic space. A classical model for quaternionic hyperbolic space is a Siegel domain with Bergman metric. A subgroup of holomorphic isometries of quaternionic hyperbolic space is Fuchsian if every element leaves invariant either a complex line or \(\mathbb H^2_R\). The author gives the following necessary condition for being a Fuchsian group in quaternionic hyperbolic space. ``A nonelementary quaternionic hyperbolic Kleinian group \(G\) containing a loxodromic fixing \(0\) and \(\infty\) and the sum of diagonal entries of each element of \(G\) is real then \(G\) is Fuchsian.'' Since the trace is not conjugation invariant in general for quaternionic hyperbolic case, the author states the sum of diagonal entries of each element instead. Using careful computations and the concept of Cartan angular invariant the author deduces that every element leaves invariant either a complex line or \(\mathbb H^2_R\).
