Let \(W\) be a Coxeter group. The authors call a \(W\)-set \(X\) quasiparabolic if it shares some properties with the homogeneous space \(W/W_I\) where \(W_I\) is a standard parabolic subgroup of \(W\). Many well-known properties of \(W/W_I\) extend to quasiparabolic \(W\)-sets, like the strong exchange condition, an analogue of the Bruhat order, and results on shellability. Moreover, quasiparabolic \(W\)-sets have a flat deformation to a representation of the corresponding Hecke algebra \(H_W(q)\). The authors are motivated by the example of the symmetric group acting on fixed-point-free involutions by conjugation.
