An asymptotic solution for the scalar singularly perturbed initial value problem \[ \epsilon^2 \frac{dy}{dx}=f(y,x,\epsilon),\;x\in I:=[0,X], \] \[ y(0,\epsilon)=y^0, \] where \(f\) is of the form \(f(y,x,\epsilon)=-h(x)(y-\varphi (x))^2+\epsilon f_1(y,x,\epsilon)\) and with a positive singular perturbation parameter \(\epsilon\) is constructed. The analysis is based on applying the formal asymptotic expansion techniques and the method of lower and upper solutions adapted to this problem.
