The authors construct an efficient boundary integral solver for computing the polarizability of dielectric cubes and the capacitance of the unit cube. The solver computes the polarizability of a dielectric cube in a dielectric background medium even with negative permittivity ratios with accuracy of five to ten digits and the capacitance with 13 digits accuracy. The authors describe in full detail a mathematical framework for studying the polarizability of Lipschitz domains, based on spectral theory of the double layer potential of the Laplacian and its adjoint in Sobolev spaces. So several aspects of polarizabilities and their representing measures can be clarified, including the limiting behavior both when approaching the support of the measure and when deforming smooth domains into a non-smooth domain. Furthermore they construct an effective multilevel solver of the integral equations on cube-shaped domains which produces results for polarizabilities and capacitance with unprecedented accuracy.
