    Summary: The classical growth has been characterized in terms of approximation errors for a continuous function on \([-1, 1]\) by \textit{A. R. Reddy} [J. Approximation Theory 3, 128--137 (1970; Zbl 0207.07302)], and a compact \(K\) of positive capacity by \textit{T. V. Nguyen} [Ann. Pol. Math. 26, 325--333 (1972; Zbl 0241.30043)] and \textit{T. Winiarski} [Ann. Pol. Math. 23, 259--273 (1970; Zbl 0205.37905)] with respect to the maximum norm. The aim of this paper is to give the general growth (\((p, q)\)-growth) of entire functions in \(\mathbb C^n\) by means of the best polynomial approximation in terms of the \(L^p\)-norm, with respect to the set \[ \Omega_r = \big\{z \in \mathbf{C}^n\,\big|\, \exp V_K(z) \leq r\big\}, \] where \[ V_K = \sup \bigg\{\frac{1}{d}\log |P_d|\;\Big|\; P_d \text{ polynomial of degree} \leq d,\; ||P_d||_K \leq 1\bigg\} \] is the Siciak extremal function on an \(L\)-regular non-pluripolar compact set \(K\).
