The delta genus of a polarized variety, that is a pair \((X,L)\) of a variety and an ample line bundle, is an important tool to study the adjunction theory on \(X\). Fujita, Beltrametti--Sommese, and many others developed the theory of delta genus and obtained interesting classifications out of it, for an overview see [\textit{M. C. Beltrametti} and \textit{A. J. Sommese}, The adjunction theory of complex projective varieties. De Gruyter Expositions in Mathematics. 16. Berlin: de Gruyter (1995; Zbl 0845.14003)]. The paper under review introduces a notion of delta genus for rank two vector bundles \(E\) on a smooth projective 3-fold \(X\). This is done, essentially, using the delta genus of both \(\mathbb{P}(E)\) and \(\mathbb{P}(E)\) restricted to a curve section. The main results are then a classification of low values of the delta genus when \(E\) is either spanned or with a smooth section of the right codimension.
