Let \(G\) be a non-compact simple Lie group and \(H\) a compact subgroup. Assume that \(G/H\) is not Kähler but a symplectic homogeneous space. The coarse orbit of such a homogeneous space is the set of homogeneous spaces \(G/H'\) with \(H'\) compact and such that \(H\) is isomorphic to \(H'\); if \(G/H'\) and \(G/H\) are in the same orbit, it is said that they are of the same coarse orbit type. After introducing general results on homogeneous symplectic spaces, the author goes through the classification of non-compact simple Lie groups and presents the different coarse orbit types for a given \(G\) by using the root system of \(G\) as main tool.
