Considering two-dimensional hypersingular linear integral equations where the integral is understood in the sense of the Hadamard principal value on a convex bounded domain from \(\mathbb R^2\) with the boundary being a closed piecewise smooth curve of the class \(C^2\), the solvability of such an integral equation is proved under the Fredholm alternative framework. In the case of a unique solvable equation, an a priori estimate of the solution is proved and a special method of discrete singularities as a quadrature-type numerical method is constructed, the convergence of this method is obtained by proving the error estimate. The obtained theoretical results, about solvability and convergence, are illustrated as an application to the numerical solution of the von Neumann boundary value problem on a plane screen surface for the Helmholtz equation, the unknown function being the density of the double-layer potential.
