On the asymptotic stability of equilibria of nonlinear mechanical systems with delay (Q1955650)

The authors study the title problem, as an extension of systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are asymptotically stable. They consider how the stability of these systems is affected by changes (``delay'') in the independent variable (typically: time). The authors state and prove three theorems which enable determination of sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability at the extended time delay systems. The concepts are illustrated by two example problems modelling mechanical systems. The paper is theoretical in nature but it nevertheless should be of interest to practitioners concerned with the stability of nonlinear time-delay control systems.
