A \(p\)-tuple of the Euclidean space is fully characterized by the data of the distances determined by each pair of points. The known existence criterion is stated in terms of signs of the minors of some matrix build up from the square of the prescribed distances. In this paper, analogous concepts for \(p\)-tuples of points in the Grassmann manifolds \(G_{n} (\mathbb{R}^d)\) and \(G_{n} (\mathbb{C}^d)\) are discussed. The author points out that the data of distances between the points of a \(p\)-tuple are no longer sufficient to characterize it up to a global isometry of \(G_{n} (\mathbb{R}^d)\) or \(G_{n} (\mathbb{C}^d)\). He defines a new matrix invariant for isometry classes of such \(p\)-tuples. In terms of this matrix invariant, a notion of a homogeneous \(p\)-tuple is introduced. The author also obtaines a necessary and sufficient condition for two homogeneous \(p\)-tuples to be isometric. Classifications of regular \(p\)-tuples of \(G_{2} (\mathbb{R}^d)\), \(G_{3} (\mathbb{R}^d)\), and \(G_{2} (\mathbb{C}^d)\) are presented in detail.
