    Consider the family of quasidifferential expressions \(l_{\varepsilon}\) of the form \[ l_{\varepsilon}(y):=-y''(t)+q_{\varepsilon}(t)y(t), \] \(q_{\varepsilon}\in L_2:=L_2([a,b],C)\), \(\varepsilon\in[0,\varepsilon_0]\) and associate with each of them a closed quasidifferential operator \(L_{\varepsilon}y:=l_{\varepsilon}(y)\) with \(\text{Dom}(L_{\varepsilon}):=\{\,y\in L_2\mid \exists D_{\varepsilon}^{[2]}y\in L_2,\alpha(\varepsilon)\mathcal Y_a(\varepsilon)+\beta(\varepsilon)\mathcal Y_b(\varepsilon)=0\,\}\). Here, \(D^{[0]}y=y\), \(D^{[1]}y=y'-qy\), \(D^{[2]}y=-(D^{[1]}y)'-qD^{[1]}y-q^2y\), \(\alpha(\varepsilon),\beta(\varepsilon)\in C^{2\times2}\) are matrices and \(\mathcal Y_c(\varepsilon):=\{y(c),D_{\varepsilon}^{[1]}y(c)\}\in C^2\) are vectors for \(c\in\{a,b\}\). It is said that the family of operators \(L_{\varepsilon}\) converges to \(L_0\) in the sense of norm resolvent convergence, \(L_{\varepsilon}\overset{R}{} L_0\) if there exists \(\mu\in C\), \(\mu\in\rho(L_0)\cap\rho(L_{\varepsilon})\) such that \(\|(L_{\varepsilon}-\mu)^{-1}- (L_0-\mu)^{-1}\|\to0\) as \(\varepsilon\to+0\). Denote also \(c^{\lor}(t):=\int_a^tc(x)\,dx\) and by \(\|\cdot\|_C\) the sup-norm. Extending a result of \textit{A. M. Savchuk} and \textit{A. A. Shalikov} [Math. Notes 66, No.~6, 741--753 (1999); translation from Mat. Zametki 66, No.~6, 897--912 (1999; Zbl 0968.34072)], the authors prove that \(L_{\varepsilon}\overset{R}{} L_0\) if the following conditions are satisfied: 1)~\(\|q_{\varepsilon}\|_2=O(1)\); 2)~\(\|(q_{\varepsilon}-q_0)^{\lor}\|_C\to0\); 3)~\(\|(q_{\varepsilon}^2-q_0^2)^{\lor}\|_C\to0\) and 4)~\(\alpha(\varepsilon)\to\alpha(0)\), \(\beta(\varepsilon)\to\beta(0)\). Several extensions of this result are also given.
