    Let \({\mathcal A}({\mathbb D}^2)\) denote the bidisc algebra. Consider the Beurling algebra \[ \begin{multlined} {\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}^+ =\\ \Bigl\{ f(z,w) = \sum_{n,m\geq0} a_{n,m} z^n w^m\in {\mathcal A}({\mathbb D}^2)\Bigm| \|f\|_{\alpha,\beta} := \sum_{n,m\geq0} |a_{n,m}| (1+n)^\alpha (1+m)^\beta<\infty \Bigr\}. \end{multlined} \] The authors study when the closed ideal generated by \(f\) in \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}^+\) coincides with the ideal consisting of all functions in \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}^+\) vanishing on the zero set of \(f\). More specifically, the authors prove weighted analogues to results due to \textit{H.\,Hedenmalm} [J.~Funct.\ Anal.\ 80, 9--15 (1988; Zbl 0672.46024); Trans.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc.\ 306, 697--714 (1988; Zbl 0655.32017); Duke Math.\ J.\ 58, 251--297 (1989; Zbl 0672.42011)]. To quote one of the main results of the paper, suppose that \((\alpha,\beta) \in \bigl(\left[0,1\right[ \times \left]0,1\right[ \bigr) \cup \bigl(\left]0,1\right[\times\left[0,1\right[\bigr)\) and that \(f\in {\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}^+\) such that the zero set of \(f\) is \(\{1\}\times \overline{\mathbb D}\). Then the ideal generated by \(f\) consists of the functions vanishing on \(\{1\}\times \overline{\mathbb D}\) if and only if the function \(f(\cdot, w)\) is outer for every \(w\) in \(\overline{\mathbb D}\). The proofs employ the notion of \((\delta,n)\)-visibility (see \textit{N.\,Nikolski} [Ann.\ Inst.\ Fourier 49, 1925--1998 (1999; Zbl 0947.46035)]).
