The authors study integrability properties of the Boltzmann collision operator for hard and soft potentials in \(n\) dimensions. A Young inequality for hard potentials is obtained by using symmetrization techniques in \(L^p\) spaces. This result is sharp for Maxwell molecules in the \(L^2\) case. A Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequality for Boltzmann collision integrals with soft potentials is proved. The same method extends to radially symmetric, non-increasing potentials lying in some weak \(L^p\) space or \(L^p\) space. The authors' approach resembles an approach of \textit{H. Brascamp, E. Lieb}, and \textit{J. Luttinger} [J. Funct. Anal. 17, 227--237 (1974; Zbl 0286.26005)] for multilinear weighted convolution inequalities. The constants in proved inequalities depend on integrability conditions of the angular cross section (in the spirit of Grad cut-off). As an additional application of the approach, some estimates for exponential weights and hard potentials in both conservative and dissipative interactions are also obtained.
