Let \((M,g)\) be a smooth connected compact Riemannian manifold with a smooth boundary. Let \(2<p<2^*\) be a real number, where \(2^*\) denotes the critical Sobolev exponent. This paper is concerned with the study of positive solutions to the nonlinear elliptic equation \(-\varepsilon^2\Delta_gu+u=|u|^{p-2}u\) in \(M\) such that \(\partial u/\partial\nu =0\) on \(\partial M\). The main result of the present paper establishes that the above boundary value problem admits at least cat\(\,(\partial M)+1\) non constant distinct solutions, provided that \(\varepsilon>0\) is sufficiently small. The proof combines topological and variational arguments.
