In the modern aerospace industry, there is a need for a reliable finite element method for the description of vibroacoustic behaviour of aircraft cabins. An adequate description of the problem must take ito account the fluid behaviour in porous media and, at the same time, the structural behaviour. This paper uses a two-phase approach to tackle the damping process in porous fluid-filled media. The authors derive the governing equations and construct a finite element method to solve them. Additionally, the authors describe a procedure to measure material parameters entering into the problem. The comparison between experimental and predicted results is given in graphs.
