Six error indicators obtained from dual boundary integral equations are used for local estimation, which is an essential ingredient for all adaptive mesh schemes in the boundary element method. Computational experiments are carried out for the two-dimensional Laplace equation. The results show that the adaptive mesh based on any one of these six error indicators converges faster than does equal mesh discretization.
