Variations on tightness in function spaces (Q1962079)

Many results in the literature show that for a Tikhonov space \(X\) certain closure properties of the space \(C_p(X)\) of real-valued continuous functions on \(X\) with the topology of pointwise convergence manifest themselves as covering properties of \(X\). In this paper, the \(T\)-tightness and set-tightness of \(C_p(X)\) are properties which are characterized in terms of covering properties of \(X\). The countable version of the result regarding \(T\)-tightness is: \(C_p(X)\) has countable \(T\)-tightness if and only if all finite powers of \(X\) are linearly Lindelöf.
