The purpose of this paper is to calculate the ``explicit forms'' of zeta functions associated with prehomogeneous vector spaces. More concretely, instead of the Dirichlet series with abstractly defined coefficients, we want to describe the zeta functions as an algebraic formula of well-known ones; they are zeta functions of algebraic number fields or Eisenstein series. This paper gives the way to compute the ``explicit forms'' by calculating concretely the local zeta functions appearing as the Euler factors in the adelic zeta functions associated with prehomogeneous vector spaces. As examples, the author gives the result of the calculations of explicit forms of zeta functions of reduced prehomogeneous vector spaces with relative invariant of determinant type. For example, the space of square matrices \(M_n\), that of symmetric matrices \(S_n\), and those of complex and quaternion Hermitian matrices are dealt with in this paper. They have a relative invariant of the determinant. In addition, the zeta function on the \(m\times n\) matrix space \(M_{mn}\) \((n\geq 2m)\) is also treated. This prehomogeneous vector space has the relative invariant \(\det (x\cdot{}^tx)\) with \(x\in M_{mn}\).
