Hodge classes on abelian varieties of low dimension (Q1962563)

In this paper the authors show that for any complex abelian variety of dimension \(\leq 5\) every Hodge class on it is a linear combination of products of divisor classes and Weil classes. This result is a generalization of their previous paper [\textit{B. J. J. Moonen} and \textit{Yu. G. Zarhin}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 496, 83-92 (1998; Zbl 0887.14004)] which deals with the four-dimensional case. The crucial step of their proof is a complete determination of what Hodge groups arise for those abelian varieties.
