For a given real valued function \(f\) which is continuous on \textbf{R}, and a positive integer \(\nu\), let \(L_n(\nu,f;x)\in \Pi_{\nu n-1}\) denote the Hermite--Fejér interpolation polynomials of order \(\nu\) based at the zeros of orthonormal polynomials with the typical Freud weight. A nice result on the mean convergence of \(L_n(1,f;x)\) is due to \textit{D. S. Lubinsky} and \textit{D. M. Matjila} (Theorem 1.1 in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 26, No. 1, 238-262 (1995; Zbl 0813.42017)). The authors extend this result for \(L_n(\nu,f;x)\) when \(\nu>1\).
