The authors generalize theorems of \textit{L. F. Tam} [Math. Z. 211, 315-322 (1992; Zbl 0764.53037)] and \textit{T. H. Colding} and \textit{W. P. Minicozzi} [Invent. Math. 131, 257-298 (1998; Zbl 0919.31004)] in the following way: Let \(M\) be a connected sum of complete Riemann manifolds satisfying (i) the volume doubling condition and (ii) the Poincaré inequality. Then the space of polynomial growth harmonic functions on \(M\) is finite dimensional whenever \(M\) has finitely many ends and satisfies the finite covering condition on each end.
