The purpose of this paper is to study a class of conformal metrics in the ` \(N=2\) supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory' of \textit{N. Seiberg} and \textit{E. Witten} [Nucl. Phys., B 426, No. 1, 19--52 (1994; Zbl 0996.81510)]. The author provides several alternate characterizations of this class of metrics and proceedes to examine issues of existence and boundary behavior and to parametrize the collection of Seiberg-Witten metrics with isolated non-essential singularities on a fixed compact Riemann surface.
