An inverse eigenvalue problem is considered to solve the existence of special mass-damper-spring systems. The systems are described by matrices \(M\), \(C\) and \(K\) representing masses, placement and stiffness, and damping respectively. The inverse eigenvalue problem is formulated and solved in some cases involving special damped motion in special structures. Conditions for the existence of the solution are determined. Numerical examples are computed by a MATLAB program.
