    The following Newmann problem is considered \[ (1)\quad u''+f(x,u)=0, \quad x\in (0,1), \qquad (2)\quad u'(0)=u'(1)=0, \] where \(f\in C^1([0,1]\times \mathbb{R}, \mathbb{R})\) satisfies the conditions: 1) there exists \(\lambda>0\) such that \[ \lim_{s\to -\infty}{f(x,s)\over s}=\lambda \;\;\text{ \;uniformly \;in} \;x\in[0,1] \] and 2) there exist \(\theta\in\left(0,1/2\right)\) and \(s_0>0\) such that \[ 0<F(x,s)\leq\theta sf(x,s) \;\;\text{ for \;all} \;x\in [0,1], s\geq s_0, \] with \(F(x,s)=\int_0^sf(x,t)dt\). It is shown that under certain additional conditions in both cases of \(\lambda\in (0,{\pi^2\over 4})\) and of \(\lambda\in ({\pi^2\over 4}, \infty)\) problem (1), (2) has at least two nonconstant solutions. Some other related results are obtained.
