I. Schur has shown that the class of positive semidefinite \(n \times n\) matrices is closed under Hadamard multiplication. It is shown that the same holds for the class of inverse \(M\)-matrices if and only if \(n\) is less than 4. Further results concern \textit{R. A. Willoughby}'s inverse \(M\)-matrices [ibid. 18, 75-94 (1977; Zbl 0355.15006)], triangular inverse \(M\)-matrices, Schur complements, and inequalities for \(M\)-matrices with Fan product.
